What does God look like?

Mariah asks:

What does God look like?

Denny answers:

God does not have a body like a person that we can see.

God is not like us. He knows everything, can do anything, and is everywhere at once. We don't know what God looks like because we cannot see Him. He is invisible to us because He does not have a body like man.

Although we cannot see God, we can know about Him. God tells us about Himself in the Bible. The Bible also tells us how God sent His Son, Jesus, to earth as a person. The more we learn about what Jesus was like, the more we know what God is like.

Bible Truth
  • "He [Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:15-17).

  • "But in these last days [God] has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven" (Hebrews 1:2-3).

  • "No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son [Jesus], who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him" (John 1:18, NKJV).
