What happened to Jesus after He rose from the dead?

Here's the answer:

Before Jesus died on a cross for our sins, He promised His friends that even though His body would be put to death, He would walk out of the grave three days later.

Sure enough, three days after His death, a friend named Mary came to the place where Jesus had been buried. Rather than finding Jesus lying in His tomb, she discovered that the tomb was empty. Later, she found Jesus was walking about! He even spoke to her.

Soon, others came to the place where Jesus had been buried. Peter and John, two of Jesus’ disciples, walked inside the empty tomb and saw that Jesus was not there. Death couldn’t hold Jesus captive!

Over the next 40 days, Jesus visited His friends. He spoke with them. He had dinner with them. The Apostle Paul said there were over five hundred people who saw the resurrected Jesus. Amazing!

After the 40 days were over, Jesus was talking with His friends when suddenly He rose up into heaven. The disciples were looking up into the sky, wondering where Jesus went, when two angels came to tell the disciples that Jesus had gone up into heaven and would one day return for His people.

We’re still waiting for Jesus to come back, but while we wait, Jesus is preparing a place in heaven for all those who believe in Him! Have you believed in Jesus? You can read more about that here.

Bible Truth

"It was very early in the morning on the first day of the week. The women took the spices they had prepared. Then they went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from it. When they entered the tomb, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. They were wondering about this. Suddenly two men in clothes as bright as lightning stood beside them. The women were terrified. They bowed down with their faces to the ground. Then the men said to them, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? Jesus is not here! He has risen! Remember how he told you he would rise. It was while he was still with you in Galilee'" (Luke 24:1–6).

"The disciples were still talking about this when Jesus himself suddenly stood among them. He said, 'May peace be with you!' They were surprised and terrified. They thought they were seeing a ghost' (Luke 24:36–37).

"After Jesus said this, he was taken up to heaven. They watched until a cloud hid him from their sight. While he was going up, they kept on looking at the sky. Suddenly two men dressed in white clothing stood beside them. 'Men of Galilee,' they said, 'why do you stand here looking at the sky? Jesus has been taken away from you into heaven. But he will come back in the same way you saw him go'" (Acts 1:9–11).
