Were there dinosaurs on Noah's ark?

Justin asks:

Were there dinosaurs on Noah's ark?
Denny answers:

The Bible doesn't say for sure, but dinosaurs could have fit on the ark.

Learning about dinosaurs is fun! It's amazing to see their bones put together in museums. The Bible tells about fierce creatures called behemoth and leviathan that may have been dinosaurs. Scientists think that dinosaurs became extinct a long time ago. Some Christian scientists think that dinosaurs all died before the time of Noah, so they wouldn't have been on the ark.

If dinosaurs were alive at the time of Noah, they could have fit on the ark, especially young dinosaurs. God told Noah exactly how big to build the ark. From the measurements given in the Bible, the ark was more than 400 feet long and about 4 stories tall. The ark could have held 522 railroad box cars! So dinosaurs could have fit inside the ark.

Bible Truth
  • Read Genesis 7:-8:22 for the true story of Noah and the ark.

  • God said, "Look at Behemoth, which I made just as I made you. It eats grass like an ox. Look at the strength it has in its body; the muscles of its stomach are powerful. Its tail is like a cedar tree; the muscles of its thighs are woven together. Its bones are like tubes of bronze; its legs are like bars of iron. It is one of the first of God's works, but its Maker can destroy it" (Job 40:15-19).

  • "Sing praises to the LORD; praise our God with harps. He fills the sky with clouds and sends rain to the earth and makes grass grow on the hills. He gives food to cattle and to the little birds that call. He is not impressed with the strength of a horse or with human might. The LORD is pleased with those who respect him, with those who trust his love" (Psalm 147:7-11, NCV).
