God keeps the true Christian’s salvation safe forever.
Imagine you fall into the deep end of the pool and cannot swim. As you are sinking, your dad jumps in and saves you!
Jesus can save you from a worse death. He came to save believers from the punishment of their sin—eternal death in hell—by dying on the cross and becoming alive again.
Now imagine again that after your dad has saved you, he is holding you with your head above the water. You are clinging to him. But even if you let go for a second, will you fall? No! Your dad is holding you. And he will not let you go!
God the Father is even more powerful and more loving than your father. When God saves a sinner who believes in Jesus, He makes the believer His own child (John 1:12). God will not let His children go. God is all powerful and keeps Christians from losing their salvation.
But many people who say they are Christians are not true Christians. They will be sorry when Jesus tells them, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Matthew 7:23b). So the Bible says to
test ourselves to make sure we are true Christians (2 Corinthians 13:5).
True Christians will never lose their salvation because the all-powerful God keeps them. Read the Bible Truth below!
Bible Truth
- “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24).
- Jesus said, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:37-40).
- Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand” (John 10:27-29).
- “He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful” (1 Corinthians 1:8-9).
