We need to be careful about what we put into our minds.

Lots of movies are scary, but for different reasons. Some movies scare us when we worry if the hero will make it out okay. Others scare us because they are dark and evil. It's the second kind we need to be careful of.

God often warns us about allowing evil and ungodly things into our minds. Scary movies that show violent acts of evil or scary things like ghosts and blood not only can be scary at the moment, but those images can stick with us long after. God warns us to be careful about what we allow into our minds. Allowing evil things into our mind can frighten us for a long time to come and distract us from keeping our mind on godly things.

It's important to make decisions now on what you will and will not let into your mind. If you wait until you’re around all your friends, you may find it hard to make the right choice when they are not. So make good decisions now about what you’ll do if you find yourself in that situation. And if you realize you need to stop watching something, it's okay to just get up and go!

Bible Truth

“I keep every thought under control in order to make it obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5b).

“Finally, my brothers and sisters, always think about what is true. Think about what is noble, right and pure. Think about what is lovely and worthy of respect. If anything is excellent or worthy of praise, think about those kinds of things” (Philippians 4:8).
