What is peace? Why is it a fruit of the Spirit?

Here's the answer:

Peace is a feeling of calmness or quiet. It’s also what happens when people are getting along and not fighting with each other. Peace is a fruit of the Spirit.

Think about how you would feel lying in the grass in a warm, quiet meadow. That feeling is peace. Now think about when you and a friend or brother or sister are getting along and having fun together. That’s peace too, because you’re not fighting with one another. Now, think about how it feels when you have a good relationship with Jesus because you’re obeying and following Him. That’s also peace!

It’s easy to feel peaceful when things are calm and quiet around us, but real peace can only come from God’s Spirit. We can have this kind of peace even when we’re going through something hard. True peace happens when we trust God to take care of us instead of worrying.

The Bible says, "So don’t worry. Don’t say, 'What will we eat?' Or, 'What will we drink?' Or, 'What will we wear?'...Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them. But put God’s kingdom first. Do what he wants you to do. Then all those things will also be given to you" (Matthew 6:31–33). When we trust God, we can have peace and know that He will take care of us.
