When I'm older...

Becca asks:

Can I do whatever I want when I'm older?
Denny answers:

Even when you're older, you should still love and obey God.

When you're older, you will have more choices to make on your own. But God will still hold you to the same rules in the Bible. When some kids grow up, they make bad choices and disobey God because they don't love Him. This displeases God because His ways are the best for everyone's lives. If you obey your parents now and learn to follow Jesus, you will make good habits and choices that will help when you're older.

Even now, get to know and love God as you read your Bible and pray. The more you learn about God, the more you will trust His plan, rules, and love for you. You need to keep your friendship with God strong so you will always remember when you become a teenager and adult.

Bible Truth
  • "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).

  • "Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right" (Proverbs 20:11).

  • "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it" (Proverbs 22:6).
