What does it mean to honor God?

Here's the answer:

We honor God when we obey Him and show Him how special and amazing we think He is.

Honoring God is like honoring your parents or honoring a king or a president. These people are in charge of us or "in authority" over us, so we should value them greatly and try to please them. We should want to please God even more because He is the only perfect Father and ruler over us.

We honor God when we reflect His character to the people around us. God is loving, honest, forgiving, fair, and without sin. When we show others love, speak honestly, forgive those who hurt us, treat others fairly, and ask God’s Spirit to help us sin less, we are reflecting God and honoring Him. The Bible talks about many more ways to honor God.

We can’t honor God unless we have God the Holy Spirit living inside us, helping us love the things God loves and to have changed hearts that love Him and love others. The only way to have the Holy Spirit inside of us is by believing in Jesus as our savior. Then, we can truly honor and glorify God!
