What is the meaning of Easter?

Here's the answer:

The meaning of Easter is that it is the day we celebrate the anniversary of the Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection.

For some people, Easter is a day of egg hunts, chocolate treats, and an Easter bunny. While there is nothing wrong with including these things in your holiday celebration, they are not the reason for Easter. The reason for Easter is Jesus. Easter is about the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Father loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins (John 3:16–17).

When Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, He destroyed Satan and death. No longer do we have to be afraid of Satan or death because Jesus has defeated them. Because of Jesus’ great victory over the grave, we have the promise of a new start, a new day, and a new beginning. Every day when we wake up, we can praise Jesus for the air in our lungs and the pep to our step because we owe it all to Him.

Easter also means that love is more powerful than death. The love God has for us is abounding (Romans 8:37–39). Nothing in all creation can separate us from His love. Jesus died the death we deserved because of love. Easter helps us to remember this love and to hold it close to our hearts.

Bible
Bible Truth

"Hold me close to your heart where your royal seal is worn. Keep me as close to yourself as the bracelet on your arm. My love for you is so strong it won’t let you go. Love is as powerful as death. Love’s jealousy is as strong as the grave. Love is like a blazing fire. Love burns like a mighty flame. No amount of water can put it out. Rivers can’t sweep it away. Suppose someone offers all their wealth to buy love. That won’t even come close to being enough" (Song of Solomon 8:6–7).

"No one has greater love than the one who gives their life for their friends" (John 15:13).

"Here is what love is. It is not that we loved God. It is that he loved us and sent his Son to give his life to pay for our sins" (1 John 4:10).
