Mariah asks:
Why did Jesus get tempted by the devil?

Denny answers:
Satan wanted to make Jesus sin, but Jesus didn't sin.
Satan knew that if he could make Jesus do something wrong and sin, then Jesus couldn't be our Savior. In order to pay the price for our sins and take our place by dying for our sins, Jesus Himself could never sin. Satan tempted Jesus, or tried to make Him do things He was not supposed to do. Even though Satan offered Jesus many wonderful things, Jesus chose to not sin and resisted Satan's temptation.
Bible Truth
- "Then Jesus told him, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed' "(John 20:29).
- "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have One who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (Hebrews 4:15-16).
- "Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name" (John 20:30-31).
