Is it wrong to borrow someone’s stuff without asking?

Here's the answer:

Borrowing an item from someone else without asking isn’t respectful.

It is always best to ask permission before borrowing an item from someone else. The Bible tells us to be honest and respectful of others. This includes respecting the items your friends or family members own.

If you borrow your sister’s tablet without asking, she might wonder where her tablet went. She might think someone stole it. She may need to use it, and then can’t find it. Instead, you want her to know that you borrowed it and that her tablet is safe. It is best to ask her permission before using her property.

If your sister says something like, “You are free to borrow my tablet if you need it,” then that is different. She has given you permission. It is still nice to leave a note and let her know you are borrowing it.

Bible Truth

"Anyone who has been stealing must never steal again. Instead, they must work. They must do something useful with their own hands. Then they will have something to give to people in need" (Ephesians 4:28).

"Do to others as you want them to do to you" (Luke 6:31).
