What does the Bible say about what foods we should eat?

Here's the answer:

The Bible says all foods are clean (Mark 7:19) and can be eaten.

The Old Testament had many laws regarding what Israel could eat. God prohibited Israel from eating pork, shrimp, shellfish, other types of seafood, some insects, scavenger birds, and other animals. These rules were put into place to keep Israel separate from other people groups. However, these rules are not for us today. Within the New Covenant we have in Christ, all foods are clean.

All foods are clean because Jesus declared them to be (Mark 7:19). This was revealed to Peter in a vision. Peter was worried about eating “unclean” foods. Jesus came to Peter in the vision and told him it was okay to eat any food. In doing this, all foods have been declared clean by God. This means that any food you want is good to eat.

With this in mind, it is also important to monitor how much you eat. It is okay to eat what you want, but don't eat in excess. If we can't control our physical appetites, it will be hard to control ourselves in other areas. This is why it is important for us to work on controlling our desires, including our appetites.

"The voice spoke to him a second time. It said, 'Do not say anything is not pure that God has made clean'" (Acts 10:15).
