Do we have to go to a special building to have church?

Here's the answer:

God doesn’t require us to go to a special building for church.

When we think of the word "church," we often think of a building. Sometimes that building has a steeple or a long aisle with a stage and a pulpit. But that’s not what God calls the Church. Instead, He calls everyone who has accepted Him "the Church." So, church really refers to people, not a building.

When we get together with other Christians to learn or talk about God, we are in church! We can have church at the park, in a house, in a gym, in a tree house, or even a swimming pool! The place doesn’t have to have a pulpit or a piano. In fact, Christians around the world often meet outside to worship God. They gather together to sing and study the Bible. That is church too.

It doesn’t matter where you meet, but it is important you do meet regularly with other Christians. The Bible tells us to meet together with other believers so we can worship and encourage each other.

"Let us not give up meeting together. Some are in the habit of doing this. Instead, let us cheer each other up with words of hope. Let us do it all the more as you see the day coming when Christ will return" (Hebrews 10:25).

"I was very glad when they said to me, 'Let us go up to the house of the LORD'" (Psalm 122:1).
